COUAC... Physical Comedy

physiCAL THEATRE  -  Clown  -  Inside

Non Verbal - Voice Over /  Family Show  /  8+  /  50 minutes

This wordless one-man physical theatre show cleverly blends humour, clowning and poetic storytelling. Visually slick and playful, Couac explore the balance between nature and technology, and the urgent need to preserve our humanity.

The Show

In an ultra-connected world, Jo struggles with the omnipresence of Ève, an artificial intelligence that dictates his every move and constantly pushes him to consume more. This physical theatre solo show, blending humor and clowning, plunges us into a fast-paced visual universe reminiscent of silent movie aesthetics. On stage, an ingenious translucent tulle setup places the audience face-to-face with a character trapped behind a screen, whose existence is dictated by omnipresent and superficial technologies. Moving between biting derision and visual poetry, COUAC offers a sharp yet playful critique of our technological dependence. Wordless, this show is a touching invitation to preserve our humanity and reconnect with what truly matters.

Praise for Couac

Couac... Physical Comedy, a clown show in which an increasingly worn-down man named Jo, dressed in the rich, dusty colour palette of a more classy era, tries and fails to navigate a city of interconnected apps, surveillance cameras and other AI-based ‘assistance’ under the flashing lights of state control.

Couac is a precisely performed silent satire, led by a magnificient and captivating performance.

(THE SCOTSMAN by Sally Scott, 2025)

Praised by industry professionals for its poetic and universal themes, the show stands out for its original approach and relevant take on our hyper-connected society, all delivered with a visual elegance that is playful, funny, and touching. Recommended by the British Comedy Guide and named by London & Beyond as one of the most unmissable, original, offbeat and simply incredible productions at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Couac… Physical Comedy was awarded a "JURY SHARK AWARD" in 2026 at the Finfringe Festival in Turku, Finland, with a special mention for its artistic and professional quality.

Couac… Physical Comedy is a visual metaphor for the loneliness that comes from letting technology rule your life. Although billed as a comedy, it doubles as a bleak warning about sleepwalking into a society that accepts social ranking as normal.   (FRINGE REVIEW by Owain Rose, 2025)

COUAC explores the balance between nature and technology, and the urgent need to preserve our humanity. We’re encouraged to question the fragility of a world where over-consumption threatens numerous aspects of human life, from social relationships to preserving the natural world. Whilst the audience laughed heartily at Jo’s misadventures, there’s also the realisation of the potential dangers in our real world. Whatever your opinion on technology may be, this show is an invitation to reflect on the role it plays in our lives. Cleverly done to be gently thought-provoking in a comedic way, COUAC is meaningful and entertaining for all ages.
